The Duke of Edinburgh's Award
Girlguiding continues to offer members in the school year 9 or above till aged 25, the opportunity to complete their Duke of Edinburgh's Awards. For more information about the Duke of Edinburgh's Award please see www.dofe.org
There are three levels of programme you can do - the main differences between them are the minimum length of time they take to complete, how challenging they are and the minimum age you can start.
· Bronze - for those aged 14+ (or aged 13 & in the school year they turn 14). Takes at least six months to complete.
· Silver - for those aged 15+ (or aged 14 & in the school year they turn 15). Takes at least 6 months if you have completed Bronze or 12 months for direct entrants.
· Gold - for those aged 16+. Takes at least 12 months if you have completed Silver or 18 months for direct entrants.
You must complete your award by your 25th Birthday
To complete a DofE Award, you must undertake a period of activity in each of the following sections: volunteering, physical, skills-development and an expedition. For the Gold level you will also need to take part in a residential event.
