Rural Capital of Food

Melton Mowbray styles itself as “The rural food capital” of Britain. Get involved in sampling its delicious products by visiting Piefest, to be held on 29th and 30th July in 2017 or Chocfest which will take place on 18th and 19th November 2017. Both events will be based at the central location of the Cattle Market, Nottingham Road, Melton Mowbray.

Dickinson & Morris

Alternatively you might want to try your hand at making a pork pie yourself. Bookings can be made with Dickinson and Morris, the famous Melton pork pie shop, for an evening session of pie making.

Melton Museum

Stop by Melton Museum to learn about the town’s history, rural past and trades.

It is advised that groups contact to museum before visiting – you might have to opportunity to sign up for a workshop which includes a tour of the galleries.

The museum is open Tuesday – Saturday, 10:00 – 16:30. Parking is limited outside the museum, but there are a number of car parks available in the town.

Leicestershire is well known for producing cheese. Red Leicester and Stilton are two of the better known cheeses. Have a cheese tasting night and see if you can find a new favourite.
