In the first of our two celebration events this week we are beginning with our adult volunteers. We held our presentation event at Topstones Campsite on Sunday 3 July at 3pm where leaders were invited to join us for afternoon tea.
The majority of awards presented during the event were Adult Leadership Qualifications. These are awarded to leaders who successfully complete a training package that enables them to help out at regular unit meetings for Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, or Rangers. The training includes looking at how the young members engage with each other, develop and are a core part of unit meetings. Leaders are also given safeguarding training, first aid training and have the chance to develop their own leadership style.
We were also able to present some Going Away with… scheme awards to leaders who have completed additional training that allows them to take young members on residentials. It was also nice to present three leaders with 30 years’ service awards and one for 40 years’ service!
Finally a special mention must go to Seonaid McPhail who was presented with her County Brooch by the Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Mike Kapoor for her outstanding contribution to guiding in Leicestershire.
